The firm was started in 1960 by Len Pirie and previously known as Len Pirie and Associates.
Prior to being Pirie Consultants Ltd (and Pirie Surveying Ltd) our company was founded by Len Pirie and went under the name of Len Pirie and Associates. In the early days of the 1960s, Len Pirie, Phil's father, began a small surveying business here in Palmerston North. The company soon became well a known and well respected surveying buisness in the Manawatu. In 1990, Phil joined his father and the Pirie family began work together as a surveying company. This has been contuined with Phil's eldest son Hamish working for the firm.

Manawatu Events Equipment Trust
The Manawatu Events Equipment Trust, affectionately known as MEET, is one organisation that Phil and the Team at Pirie Consultants Ltd are especially passionate about.
MEET is a charitable trust that was establised in 2003 to assit any sporting or public organisation with their traffic management requirements for events on public roads. Hire for commercial purposes is not permitted.
The main aim of MEET is to provide all the necessary equipment at a nominal cost to any organisation whether local or from anywhere in New Zealand.
All of the equipment available fully complies with the legal requirements for road signs, cones and hi-viz jackets etc for Transit NZ, Ministry Of Transport, City and District Councils. A purpose built trailer is available for transporting the equipment. The equipment is available for hire anywhere in New Zealand, although the hirer is responisble for the arranging and payment of transport from and return to Palmerston North.
The equipment available from the Trust has been purchased or provided from the generous support of the following organisations:
The Square Trust, The Road Safety Trust, The Lion Foundation, NZ Trailers, Eastern & Central Community Trust, Pirie Consultants Ltd, Manawatu Striders, Hirequip, Couchman's Signs, Stylex Print, Barstow Insurance Brokers, NZ Post, Steelmasters, Sleipnir Screenprint, Adamson & Holland, TWL Transport & Engineering Supplies, Makinnon Chartered Accountants, On Road New Zealand
To ensure that the hire fees are kept as low as possible, MEET are continually seeking donations, services or equipment.
There are currently four Trustees which manage MEET and are able to provide organisations with the extensive support and advice on traffic management. MEET strongly recommends that all hirers familiarise themselves with their legal requirements and attend Traffic Controller and Site Traffic Management Supervisor courses.
To ensure that MEET can provide you with the necessary equipment it is vital that those wanting to hire equipment contact MEET and arrange the hire as early as possible. Councils and Transit NZ require at least 2 weeks notice of events.
For further information regarding MEET, please contact the office of Pirie Consultants Ltd, email email@example.com, or fill in the contact form on the right, and we can arrange to send a brochure out to you.
